Regrettably Absa, the Rhino at the Aquila Game Reserve in the Cape has lost his battle to survive after a brutal attack by poachers who left the animal without a horn having hacked it off with a chain saw or machetes. South Africa is losing Rhinos at an incredible rate under pressure from poachers who target the highly valued horns. The male rhino failed to make it through the night after a brave battle to survive.
The story of Absa has touched a nation sick of the wanton destruction of its natural heritage and highlighted the brutal lengths to which some will go to make money. RIP Absa..
